R1 Simulation and Training’s Introductory Level Aviation Course provides students ages 10–14 with an engaging introduction to the aviation industry and the many career opportunities available within the field. This 12-week program is designed to give students practical exposure to both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aviation while exploring careers in dispatch, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and technology, and piloting.

The $650 course includes weekly two-hour sessions held at the Logan County Airport in Logan, West Virginia. Students may choose from two class options: 9:00 AM–11:00 AM or 5:00 PM–7:00 PM, with each class meeting once per week for 12 weeks. Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class to provide students with meaningful hands-on instruction and individualized learning opportunities.

Instruction will combine classroom lectures with hands-on aviation experiences, including opportunities to work with actual aircraft and aviation simulators. Students will also participate in educational labs and visits designed to provide a firsthand look at aviation operations and career environments.

Throughout the course, students will hear from guest speakers representing the military, government, and private aviation sectors, providing insight into the education, training, and career pathways available in aviation.

Students interested in pursuing flight training will also have the opportunity to begin logging applicable Ground School training as part of their aviation education.
